Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (RA)

595 CE

Pre-Prophethood

(c. 555-619 CE) The first wife of the Prophet (PBUH) who endured many of the burdens of the call to Islam with the Prophet at the beginning of his message.
She was a wealthy trader, known to the people as 'The Pure & Chaste one'. After having Muhammad (PBUH) work as her business agent she was so impressed with his character that she proposed marriage to him (PBUH) ; when he (PBUH) was twenty-five and she was around forty. They had four daughters and two sons, both of whom died in infancy. She was sixty-five when she passed away; a year known in the prophet's life as: The Year of Sorrow.
